Dubai: A worker and a salesman denied in court yesterday the charge of kidnapping a man and locking him up in a room, where he hanged himself.

Prosecutors accused the 33-year-old Bangladeshi salesman, M.O., and his 38-year-old compatriot worker, N.A., with kidnapping the victim (who hung himself from the ceiling) because they wanted him to repay an amount of money they had lent him.

"No, we did not kidnap him. I am not guilty," argued M.O. when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.

His alleged accomplice, N.A. pleaded innocent before Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout in courtroom nine.

According to prosecution records, the duo were charged along with a third suspect (who remains at large) with kidnapping the victim from Ajman.

The trial continues.
