Dubai: A worker has been accused of trespassing into a villa and molesting a housemaid by hugging her and grabbing her stomach from behind.
The 37-year-old Indian defendant, A.K., was said to have visited the villa to speak to its Emirati owner. When he spotted the Sri Lankan housemaid, he took advantage of the fact that the owner was not there and molested the woman.
According to the charge sheet, prosecutors charged him with molesting the woman and entering the Emirati man’s residence without his permission.
When A.K. appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance, he admitted that he trespassed into the villa in Al Mamzar on February 1.
The suspect denied molesting the housemaid when defending himself before presiding judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi in courtroom three.
The Sri Lankan woman testified that the incident happened at around 7.30pm when the defendant knocked on the door wanting to speak to her sponsor.
“My sponsor was outside. The defendant handed me a paper and asked me to give it to my sponsor. He said the paper had his name and contact details. When I tried to close the door, the suspect trespassed into the front yard. Suddenly he grabbed me by my dress and I did not know why he did so. I pushed him away and ran to the nearest room… he ran behind me and grabbed me from the back. He hugged me and placed his arms around my waist. I removed his arms and rushed to the room while I screamed loud for help. My coworker opened the door… I entered quickly and shut the door to prevent the suspect from chasing me. I told my coworker what happened… she was not dressed and had just walked out of the shower. The defendant knocked on the door and asked me to give him back the paper because his name and number were written on it,” claimed the housemaid.
The Emirati man said A.K. worked for him as a driver two years prior to the incident.
He fired him because he was a drunkard.
A verdict will be heard on April 7.
