Dubai: An Azerbaijani woman has been jailed for six months after a court convicted her of attacking a Sudanese man in broad daylight and attempting to steal his Dh36,500.
The Dubai Court of First Instance on Thursday found the 36-year-old Azerbaijani woman guilty of assault and attempted robbery, although she pleaded not guilty.
Chase
Prosecutors accused the woman, M.M., of trying to rob the 48-year-old Sudanese by hitting his hand in an attempt to make him drop his money so that her compatriot woman [who is still at large] could snatch it and flee.
Records said 48-year-old M.H. chased the two women and stopped M.M. until police came and apprehended her.
The Sudanese testified that the women stole his money after he obtained it from a money exchange house in Deira.
