Dubai: Police remained tightlipped on their investigations over the apparent assassination of a Chechen national at Dubai's Jumeirah Beach Residence on Saturday.

The details of the apparent assassination of Sulaiman Madov, who was shot dead at a close range by a lone assassin at a Rimal Building in Jumeirah Beach Residence (JBR), will be disclosed by police at a press conference.

An eyewitness said the Chechen man was shot along with his two body guards. However, it is believed that they were only injured. "There was a pool of blood surrounding the victim's body," claimed a security guard who said a few people in the complex heard couple of gun shots and saw a man running out of the building.

Residents in the area said they were overwhelmed by the presence of the police but thought it had to do with a function taking place at the Walk at JBR.
