Waiter jailed for raping minor during his birthday bash
Court sentences man to three years behind bars for rape of victim.
Dubai: A waiter will spend three years in jail for intoxicating a minor girl during his birthday bash and raping her after which she conceived an illegitimate baby.
The Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday sentenced the 27-year-old Filipino accused to three years' imprisonment after he was found guilty of having sex with a minor against her will. Presiding Judge Al Saeed Mohammad Barghout, who pronounced yesterday's verdict, said the accused will be deported after serving his punishment.
The waiter's lawyer had earlier defended that the Filipina minor lied about her age and claimed that she conceived by his client.
"The girl posted on her webpage that she is 19," argued the advocate when he defended the accused, R.B.
"Forensic doctors said she is 15, going to 16. She is the one who served my client alcohol and she poured for herself four glasses of whisky. She got drunk and had consensual sex with my client," defended the lawyer.
The 27-year-old claimed that he had consensual sex with the girl and denied intoxicating her drink and raping her during his birthday party, as charged by the Public Prosecution.
The lawyer said the girl had sex with two other men and when she discovered her pregnancy (six months after the incident), she accused R.B. of making her pregnant.
