Dubai: A gold chain with a dolphin pendant is a ray of hope for the police to find the identity of a Filipina who was allegedly murdered last week.

Police said that is the only clue they have to trace the killer of the woman whose body was found in Al Twar 1 area in the last week of March.

Police are checking with all jewellery outlets in Dubai to find out if the woman had bought the gold ornament from any of those shops.

"CCTV cameras in any of the shops could show the woman accompanied by any of her friends when she bought the necklace. That will help to identify her," police said. Police said the Filipina's body was found by a passer-by who then informed the police.

Police said the forensic laboratory's report suggested that the woman had put up strong resistance as there were bruises on the woman's face.

"There were bruises and scratches on her neck," police said.

Police said the woman could have been strangled to death and then her body was dumped in that area.

Police said the woman, in her mid-thirties, was wearing black short and shirt when her body was found.
