Dubai: Two visitors to the country have been sentenced to life term for smuggling in 22 kilogram of heroin hidden in a fruit-and-vegetable consignment.
The Dubai Court of First Instance awarded the Pakistani convicts, 65-year-old and 31-year-old, to life term (25 years in jail according to UAE law).
Anti-narcotics police arrested the two in a sting operation, during which the accused tried to sell 7kg of heroin for $91,000 (about Dh333,000).
The convicts will be deported after serving their prison term.
