Is alleged to have stabbed her colleague with a kitchen knife
Abu Dhabi: A housemaid has been charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing her colleague in the back and shoulder, the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department (ADJD) announced on Wednesday.
The Public Prosecution has ordered that the woman be held in custody pending trial at the Abu Dhabi Criminal Court of First Instance. The suspect, who was working for a family in Abu Dhabi, had allegedly attempted to kill her colleague and fellow national, using a kitchen knife after they argued.
After hearing the victim’s screams, the suspect’s employer and sponsor walked in on the feuding pair before calling the ambulance and the police. During investigations at the Public Prosecution, the suspect confessed to the charges and said that she stabbed her in a bid to hurt the victim, not to kill her.
She also said that she had entered the country just en days ago before the fight, to work as a housemaid. The Public Prosecution ordered the suspect be detained and examined by the court’s medical expert to assess her physical and mental state.
