Dubai: Two salesmen have confessed to getting drunk but denied attempting to rape their teenage friend after luring her to a flat where the claimed they were having a party.

Prosecutors charged the Iranian salesmen, 21-year-old F.S. and 18-year-old M.N., trying to rape their 16-year-old countrywoman, S.S., by force when F.S. immobilized her and M.N. tried to undress her.

The defendants were additionally accused of assaulting and repeatedly beating her and injuring her body.

Prosecution records said the suspects failed to rape the girl because she broke away from their grip and ran out to the balcony and cried for help.

The building’s Egyptian guardsman was said to have heard S.S.’s cries for help before he rushed to the flat and saved her.

The suspects, who are detained, denied assaulting the girl and attempting to rape her by force when they entered their pleas before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Tuesday.

During yesterday’s hearing, the salesman confessed that they consumed vodka.

Their lawyer asked the judge to hear prosecution witnesses when the court reconvenes on August 5.

The 16-year-old student testified M.N. invited her to a party at F.S.’s flat in Jumeirah Beach Residence.

“I went there by taxi. They welcomed me at the entrance and we all went up to the apartment. When wed entered, there was no one else inside. They claimed to me that the other invitees would arrive in 30 minutes. We sat down and drank tea… then I spotted some liquor drinks. I also noticed a bottle of glue that the suspects were sniffing. They looked at me strangely. F.S. walked towards me and held both of my hands. Meanwhile M.N. came and removed my pants till my knees. I resisted them and broke free… I rushed to the balcony and cried for help. Shortly the building’s guardsman came and knocked the door and took me out from the flat,” claimed S.S.

The guardsman alleged that one of the residents warned him that she heard woman cries in the corridor of the third floor.

Police rushed to the building and arrested the two suspects.
