Two men arrested for selling heroin
The anti-narcotics police brushed off the hopes of two visitors to earn quick-money when they arrested them red handed selling four kilograms of heroin for Dh280,000 to an informant.
Dubai: The anti-narcotics police brushed off the hopes of two visitors to earn quick-money when they arrested them red handed selling four kilograms of heroin for Dh280,000 to an informant.
The Nigerian visitors who reportedly hid the drugs inside a laptop shoulder bag were arrested in a hotel's washroom where they prearranged to strike the deal, according to records.
The suspects, E.A. and S.O., both 30, pleaded not guilty when they appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday.
The Public Prosecution charged them with possessing 4070 grams of heroin with the intent to sell them. S.O. was solely charged with consuming morphine.
An anti-narcotics police captain testified, "One of our informants reported to us that E.A. was looking for someone to buy four kilograms of heroin at Dh70,000 per kilogramme. The suspect was also reported that he possessed and consumed drugs as well in his place."
Records said the purported peddlers met the informant in a hotel lobby in Naif. "They entered the nearest washroom in the lobby and E.A. opened the laptop shoulder bag and showed the drugs to the informant. Our informant signalled for an anti-narcotics police team which were ready to raid the place and arrested the suspects," alleged the captain in his statement to the public prosecution. Police confiscated the heroin.
