Dubai: Two men were accused of attacking a saleswoman with a stun gun in a company then roping her with a telephone cable and stealing Dh1.3 million before they absconded.
Prosecutors charged the two Kazakh men, 25-year-old I.Z. and 23-year-old T.S., with stealing by force the money from the Kyrgyz saleswoman, A.K., Dh1.3 in cash that belonged to the general trading company where she works.
"No I did not steal anything. I am not guilty," argued I.Z. when he defended himself before the Dubai Court of First Instance.
His alleged crime accomplice, T.S., entered a guilty plea when he appeared before Presiding Judge Jassem Al Beloushi.
According to the charges sheet, prosecutors said the defendants preplanned the theft and headed to the company's premises in Bani Yass.
The suspects attacked the saleswoman with a stun gun and pinned her down to the floor shortly after she opened the door when T.S. rang the doorbell.
They were said to have gagged her and tied her hands and legs with a telephone cable. Prosecutors said the Kazakh suspects snatched her mobile phone away from her hand so that she does not call the police. Then they searched the flat and took away the moneybag and stole her mobile phone as well and disappeared.
The Kyrgyz woman testified that she took the money from her residence and headed to the company.
"I phoned the company's clients to come and collect their money. I heard the door knock, and when I looked through the magic eye, I did not find anyone. I did not open. Five minutes later, I heard the door was knocked a second time… when I looked through the magic eye, I saw a man wearing a red cap and black sunglasses. When I asked who it was, I recognized T.S. from his voice. The suspects attacked me with a stun gun as soon as I opened the door. They pinned me down to the floor. They covered my mouth and tied my hands and legs. One of them banged my head down to the floor… then the stole the money and escaped," A.K. claimed to prosecutors.
Prosecution records said the woman was later summoned to the police station where she identified the suspects shortly after their arrest.
Primary interrogations revealed that the suspect were involved in the heist. An informant alerted the police that the defendants were staying in a flat in Al Nahda. Police raided the flat and detained the suspects.
The trial continues.
