The duo also stole Dh200,000 cash after the crime

Dubai: The Dubai Criminal Court has sentenced two Pakistani men to jail for murdering their sponsor in his office and robbing him on December 2013.

One of the convicts, M.F, 25, was given a life-term while the other MA, 22, was given 10 years in jail. Both men will be deported after their terms. Another person, MK, 23, was found guilty of aiding the duo and was sentenced to five years in jail.

Court documents said that the victim was restrained in his office by MA, while MF murdered him. The two men then stole three packets of cash, containing more than Dh200,000. Both MF and MA pleaded not guilty to the murder and theft charges.

Prosecutors had said the two men fled to Sharjah, where they met their countryman, MK. The duo asked MK to help them sneak out of the country. MK was found guilty of aiding and abetting the duo and sentenced to five years in jail, followed by deportation.

MK, 23, told prosecutors that: “MF and MA came to me for help. MF told me that they had killed their sponsor and needed to escape from the country. I arranged the escape plan with another man, MM, who asked each of them for Dh5,000.” MM was, however, cleared of all the charges.

According to court documents, the victim’s body was first found by an Afghan man. He was returning to his apartment, which is in the same building as the victim’s office.

“I returned to my apartment in the early hours of the morning after an outing with friends. I found the victim lying dead between the bed and the wall,” the witness said.

“When I first left the apartment, the victim was in MF’s company. The two had been having a dispute,” he said.

Police arrested MK in his apartment, where they also found the stolen cash. He then helped authorities arrest MM.

While in police custody, MK received a call from MF, who asked him for Dh20,000 from the loot.

Both MF and MA were then arrested following a sting operation.

Prosecutors said MF admitted to the murder, saying that the victim had insulted and was the first to assault him with the knife after he had brought MA to his office to fix his computer.
