Two drug smugglers caught with 1.6kg of heroin at Dubai airport
Two smugglers carrying a total of 1.6kg of heroin have been caught by customs officials at Dubai International Airport.
Dubai: Two smugglers carrying a total of 1.6kg of heroin have been caught by customs officials at Dubai International Airport.
The first arrived at Terminal 1 from an unnamed African country, and went through a body scan after inspectors in the Airport Operation Department became suspicious of his body language.
Objects lodged in his intestine were highlighted on the scan and he then admitted to swallowing 77 capsules.
After being transferred to the General Department of Criminal Investigation, Dubai Police, for further investigation, it was found that the capsules contained 1.15kg of heroin.
A second suspect was detained at Terminal 2, on arrival from an unnamed Asian country. The suspect was also put through a body scanner and objects were again highlighted.
Later investigations found that he was carrying 6 capsules containing 463.6g of heroin.
