Two charged with robbing, running over businessman
Dubai Two suspects have been charged with running over a businessman and killing him before stealing his Dh300,000 which he had just withdrawn from a bank.
Records showed the 28-year-old suspect (who doesn't carry identification documents) and his 29-year-old Iranian accomplice plotted to pursue any client who walked out of a bank with huge cash so they could rob him.
The Public Prosecution charged 28-year-old M.A. and 29-year-old A.A. with intentionally killing the businessman, S.M., after mowing him down and robbing his car and money.
According to the arraignment sheet, M.A. rammed the car of the victim who pulled over and walked out of his vehicle to check the collision. M.A. mowed him down while A.A. jumped into the car where the money was kept, and they both sped off from the scene.
The duo was also charged with stealing a 4X4 car which they intentionally stole to use it during their heist. They were charged with destroying the four-wheeler and the car of the deceased.
Jail guards failed to bring the suspects to the Dubai Court of First Instance where they were scheduled to face the charges.
An Emirati police captain testified that according to the bank's surveillance cameras A.A. was shown roaming around the deceased while he was withdrawing money from the cashier.
"We suspected him and started investigations. Two days later we discovered that he travelled to Iran and we issued an arrest warrant upon which the Iranian was arrested.
"During questioning, he admitted that they had plotted the whole incident," claimed the captain.
Records said the suspect assisted the police in arresting his associate in a sting operation in Sharjah. The trial continues.
