Dubai: Two drug traffickers were recently arrested for allegedly possessing and trafficking narcotics in Dubai. The suspects, one an Emirati and the other without any legal documents, were arrested during separate raids.

The first suspect was arrested as he allegedly attempted to sell drugs to teenagers in Al Satwa, where he lives, said Major General Abdul Jaleel Mahdi, Director of the general department for combating narcotics at Dubai Police.

A source informed the unit that the Emirati suspect used drugs and was involved in its trafficking, the officer added.

The Emirati suspect allegedly gave police details of the person who supplied him with narcotics.

The other suspect allegedly had a criminal record in drug-related cases.

After obtaining a search warrant, the investigative team raided his apartment in Al Quoz, where he denied any involvement with the first suspect, the officer said.

Both suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution.

The officer called for the public to cooperate with the narcotics team by providing information about any suspicious matter.

The hotline number for the combating narcotics department is 800 400400.
