Dubai: Two Arab men were arrested in April in Dubai International Airport for attempting to smuggle cocaine, the Dubai Police Anti-Narcotics Department announced on Tuesday.

Two men carrying cocaine arrested in Dubai Airport
The first man arrived from Sao Paolo, Brazil, and was heading to Syria, Major General Abdul Jalil Mahdi, Director of the Department, said.
A tip was received about the suspect, identified as 43-year-old H.B.S., unemployed.
Police said the suspect confessed that he knew he was carrying drugs but not which type of drugs. He said he was given the drugs from a person he knows in Brazil, who asked him to smuggle the amount to Syria against Dh18,250and travel expenses.
Another Arab man identified as 30-year-old Y.A. arrived from Sao Paolo and was heading to Abidjan, Ivory Coast, on April 22.
He was arrested in Terminal 3 after police received a tip that he was going to smuggle drugs on his trip.
He also underwent personal inspection, which showed that he was carrying 21 capsules containing 290 grams of cocaine in his underwear.
The suspect confessed that he had other capsules in his guts, and that he passed some of them in the aircraft bathroom as he could not tolerate the pressure any more, police said.
The suspect passed 60 capsules in total containing 920 grams of cocaine.
He confessed that he received the drugs from a Nigerian man in Morocco and was asked to smuggle them to Abidjan againstDh18,250, travel expenses and hotel stay.
The suspect then travelled to Sao Paolo where he was given the capsules and asked to swallow them until his arrival in Abidjan, where another man would meet him to receive them.
The two were referred to Public Prosecution to face legal action.
