Two arrested at Dubai airport for trying to smuggle in cocaine
An African and an Asian woman were arrested for trying to smuggle in more than two kilos of cocaine, Dubai Customs said on Wednesday.
Dubai: An African and an Asian woman were arrested for trying to smuggle in more than two kilos of cocaine, Dubai Customs said on Wednesday.
Inspectors suspected a female passenger coming from an African country; despite the fact that the initial inspection did not show anything.
A woman inspector suspected her because of her body language, a spokesman from Dubai Customs said.
When she went through the body scan, it showed something in her stomach. Asked how many capsules she was carrying, the woman admitted swallowing 50 capsules.
The suspect was transferred to the general department of Criminal Investigation to follow through. Later, it was confirmed that she was carrying 103 capsules containing 2,123 grams of cocaine.
In another incident, Dubai Customs suspected a passengers arriving at Terminal 2 coming from an Asian country. When he went through a body scan, it was found there were some objects in his stomach as well. It was found out that he was carrying 36 capsules containing 411 grams of heroin.
