Sharjah: Police have arrested two Arab men who stole Dh126,000 and a diplomatic passport from their Emirati friend, said a senior police officer on Wednesday.

According to Colonel Yousuf Al Naqbi, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police, the victim frequently visited the two Arab expatriates in their home at Industrial Area 6.

At first, the victim filed a police complaint at Al Gharb Police Station and reported that his money was stolen from his vehicle, in addition to his diplomatic passport.

Statement

In his statement, the victim said that his friend drove the car and parked it near a building in Industrial Area 6.

Colonel Al Naqbi said that during the interrogation, police suspected the victim's friend of being responsible for the theft.

"We interrogated the suspect and at first he denied that he had any involvement with the theft.

"He also suggested that a Gulf national may have stolen the belongings."

However, after further interrogation the suspect confessed that he committed the robbery with an accomplice, who was also the UAE national's friend.

Items recovered

When police raided the home of the second suspect, they discovered all the stolen belongings intact.

The second suspect confessed and explained that they knew the UAE national had an envelope of cash in the vehicle.

The two suspects then agreed that one would drive the car and leave the key in the ignition, while the other would then steal the money from the car. They planned to split the money between them.
