Dubai: Three men have denied trespassing into an employee's villa and throwing caustic substances on him before stealing a motorcycle and escaping, a court heard on Sunday.

The Public Prosecution charged the three Emirati suspects, 23-year-old supervisor H. Y., his 22-year-old brother, and 24-year-old M. J., with forcing their way into the villa of Emirati employee, A. K., armed with knives and stealing the motorcycle of A.K.'s brother, K.K.

According to the arraignment sheet, the trio threw bottles containing battery acid at A. K. when he went out of his villa to check on his brother's motorcycle.

The suspects were charged with endangering A. K.'s life, trespassing, theft, and destroying property with the battery acid. They were charged with carrying out the crimes in collaboration with a number of suspects who are still at large.

"I am innocent. I didn't do any of that," argued each of the suspects when they defended themselves before Presiding Judge Fahmi Mounir of the Dubai Court of First Instance.

The 24-year-old claimant testified that he was in the villa in Al Warqa when he heard the motorcycle running. "I went out and saw the 22-year-old suspect seated on the motorcycle and the other two defendants, who carried swords and knives, standing in the garden.

"When they walked towards me, I felt frightened so I entered the villa, locked the door, and phoned the police ... they threw bottles containing battery acid ... and ran away. They also stole the motorcycle," claimed A. K. in his statement.

The trial continues.
