Sharjah:  Police have arrested three Asian men who allegedly beat a man to death before stealing Dh150 from him.

Two weeks ago, Al Gharb Police Station received information about a decomposed body that was found in a deserted house in Al Musalla area — The victim's hands and legs had been tied to a chair with a plastic rope.

A senior official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News that a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the forensic laboratory had investigated the crime scene. He added that initially, they were unable to identify the victim because of the body's decomposed condition.

However, once the body was transferred to the police laboratory, it was identified as that of an Asian man in his 30s.

"Based on the evidence found at the scene, we were able to decipher that the victim used to work for a company in Ajman," the police official said.

In coordination with the Ajman Police, the victim's close friend was eventually located.

"The victim's friend told us that he had last seen him two weeks ago, and was told [by the victim] that he was going to meet people in Al Mussala Square."

Police then arrested two suspects who were the last people to have been seen with the victim.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed that they had murdered the man only because they were told to do so by their ring-leader, who lives in Ras Al Khaimah.

Once arrested, the ring-leader confessed that he had ordered the murder to be carried out. He explained that the victim had approached him looking for a prostitute, and that he was willing to pay Dh2,000 for her. The suspect asked the victim to go to Al Mussala Square where he would meet two men, who would then take him to a brothel in the neighbourhood.

Once the victim met the two men, he was taken to an abandoned house where he was allegedly tied up and beaten. However, when the men stole the money they discovered that the victim only had Dh150 and not the Dh2,000 as he had previously claimed.

The case has been referred to Sharjah Public Prosecution.
