Accused abducted the victim in Dubai and left him in Sharjah
Dubai Three men have been jailed for one year each after a court convicted them of impersonating policemen, abducting a worker and robbing him.
The Dubai Court of First Instance jailed the defendants, an Emirati and two Pakistanis, for kidnapping the Pakistani worker, M.A., and robbing him of Dh700 and his mobile phone.
Presiding Judge Mohammad Jamal Kamal said the Pakistani defendants will be deported following the completion of their jail terms. The accused denied all charges against them.
Assault
Prosecutors said the defendants abducted M.A. from Dubai and drove him to a sandy area in Sharjah where they abandoned him after taking his money and mobile phone.
Prosecutors said B.A. 33, and I.A., 24, beat up M.A. and posed as policemen as they bundled the latter into the car of H.M., 37.
The worker testified that he was kidnapped while he was sitting in a parking lot in Hor Al Anz. "It was 9pm when B.A. and I.A. walked up to me and claimed to be policemen. They asked me for my ID. Suddenly they forced me into the car. They refused to explain anything to me when I asked them why they were taking me to the police station. They assaulted me, stole my belongings, then they threw my wallet out of the car and left," he told prosecutors.
An Emirati lieutenant said police arrested H.M. after tracking him down based on his car number plate. His confession helped police arrest B.A. and I.A. in a sting operation.
