Ajman: Four teenagers were arrested by Ajman police after being accused of 12 thefts from shops, and three auto thefts, police said on Saturday.

A senior police official said that four Arab youngsters were arrested in their homes for the thefts.

Captain Saeed Khalifa Al Kitbi, acting director of the Ajman Criminal Investigation Department at Ajman Police, said the teenagers were able to steal Dh160,000 from three cars.

He said the theft reports, each from different police stations, came within a short period of time.

He said the police's search for the suspects led to one of the teenagers who admitted the crime and led them to his three accomplices.

He said police arrested the other three teenagers in their homes.

"They informed police about the shops and the cars which they robbed," he added.

During the police investigation, officers retrived the stolen items in the homes of the suspects, he said.

"The case was referred to the public prosecutor," he added.
