Boys break car windows and threaten children playing in Sharjah park
Sharjah: Vandalism in residential areas has resurfaced and tenants are once again victimised by teenagers breaking their vehicle windows in car parks.
"My neighbourhood in Abu Shagara used to be very safe and you could see the police patrolling there every an hour. Women could walk without fear even after midnight, but unfortunately this situation is changing," said K.K., an Indian resident.
He said groups of boys are making problems, by shouting, throwing stones at windows and threatening children playing in the park," he said.
"Over the past year of living at Buheira Corniche, I have learnt to ignore the teenage boys because there is nothing else that I can do," said Ameera N, 26, who has been living in Buheira Corniche for five years.
Sharjah Police confirmed such as actions of vandalism and threats prevalent in Al Khan, Al Majaz, Al Naba'a and Nasseriya.
An official at Sharjah Police headquarters commented that one of the main problems police face is when street lamp posts located in car parks are damaged, and when windows of vehicles are broken into.
