Tatweer ex-official arrested

Police arrested Sami Al Hashemi, former vice-president of Mizin, part of Dubai Government-owned developer Tatweer, 10 days ago over alleged financial irregularities.

Dubai: Police arrested Sami Al Hashemi, former vice-president of Mizin, part of Dubai Government-owned developer Tatweer, 10 days ago over alleged financial irregularities.

Confirming the news to Gulf News, a source, said Al Hashemi had left Tatweer in July and has not been associated with the company since. “Yes, we can confirm that he's been arrested. Al Hashemi left Mizin in July,'' the source told Gulf News.

Al Hashemi, a UAE national, is the latest official detained as part of the government's crackdown against alleged financial wrongdoings.

He has not been charged yet.
