Suzan murder suspect will not be extradited
Authorities in Dubai will not seek the extradition of the suspect for the murder of Lebanese singer Suzan Tamim because the UAE and Egypt do not have an extradition agreement, Dubai Police Chief Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim said.

Dubai/Cairo: Authorities in Dubai will not seek the extradition of suspects in the murder of a Lebanese singer because the UAE and Egypt do not have an extradition treaty, Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Dubai Police chief, said on Thursday.
In Cairo, an ex-policeman charged with murdering Suzan Tamim denied the accusation. "Mohsin Al Sukkary has denied killing Tamim, and told investigators he only pretended to Hesham Tala'at Mustafa that he would kill her in order to get the $2 million Mustafa had promised," sources told Gulf News. The trial is expected to begin next month in Cairo.
Tamim, 30, was found murdered in her Dubai apartment on July 28.
Egypt's Prosecutor-General, Abdul Meguid Mahmoud ordered that Hesham Tala'at Mustafa, the chairman of one of the country's biggest construction companies, face trial after a suspected killer had claimed in investigations that Mustafa was involved in the murder of the singer.
"There is no extradition agreement and moreover, the UAE authorities do not have any problems. Thus the suspect will be tried in Egypt," said Lt Gen Dahi. "I have complete trust in the Egyptian judicial system and I feel it is very credible, transparent and honest."
Assurance
The UAE authorities have been assured by Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak that nobody is above the law, according to Lt Gen Dahi.
The forensic evidence from the UAE matched a similar report in Egypt, according to the police.
"If the Egyptian authorities were not serious about taking legal action against the criminals, they would have at least denied matching our evidence with theirs. But on the contrary, we have been constantly updated on any new developments," said Dahi.
