Dubai Prosecutors will be waiting for lab reports to specify whether there were DNA traces found on the iron that an Emirati father allegedly used to torture his two daughters.

The 29-year-old father, H.S.S., is facing primary charges of torturing his 8-year-old daughter Wudeema to death.

He is also facing charges of torturing and endangering the life of his 7-year-old daughter Meera, assaulting and causing her permanent disability.

“The Family and Juveniles Prosecution referred the iron that was confiscated from the father’s flat in International City to the biological lab, where it will be examined to decide whether there were DNA traces of the two daughters. The results will then be matched with what was mentioned in the forensic report to decide whether they are consistent,” a senior prosecution source told Gulf News yesterday.

Meanwhile, Dubai’s Attorney General Essam Eisa Al Humaidan told Gulf News that the investigation will conclude tomorrow and the suspect has been questioned.

Refraining to specify whether H.S.S. confessed or denied to his primary charges, Al Humaidan clarified: “The special team of prosecutors are still investigating and waiting for technical and forensic reports. The final charges to be levelled against the suspect will ultimately be determined as per the findings and end results of those reports. We would still have to wait for the final reports because as per ordinary procedures the suspect will have to be confronted with the findings before accusation sheet is issued and the case is referred to court.”

Al Humaidan further elaborated that due to the discrepancies and contradicting media reports such as whether the suspect was on drugs or alcohol when the incident happened, he said: “This is something expected because its a public opinion case. That’s why mainly it’ll be better to wait for the conclusion of the investigation before we bring out the results and notify the public about the required details.”

A 27-year-old Emirati woman, U.A., may also be questioned over aiding and abetting H.S.S. in committing the aforementioned crimes.
