Soldier charged with raping British woman in Dubai
Dubai prosecutors have charged the defendant, S.K., with raping 20-year-old L.E. and consuming liquor and referred him to the Dubai Court of First Instance, Gulf News has learnt.

Dubai: A soldier has been charged with raping a British secretary twice — once in his car and again at her Palm Jumeirah home.
The 20-year-old British woman told police that the 30-year-old Emirati soldier, whom she met in a bar, had offered to drop her home, he raped her twice, once on the front seat of his car and once on her bed after he followed her into her home.
Dubai prosecutors have charged the defendant, S.K., with raping 20-year-old L.E. and consuming liquor and referred him to the Dubai Court of First Instance, Gulf News has learnt.
"Following nearly six months of ongoing investigations, prosecutors referred the suspect, S.K., to court where he will be prosecuted soon…however the first hearing has not been scheduled yet," a source close to the investigation told Gulf News on Monday.
A law enforcement officer said the woman reported the alleged incident around 3.20am.
She claimed that she was drinking liquor and dining out with friends at a bar at Jumeirah Beach Residence.
L.E. alleged that earlier that night the suspect came and spoke to one of her friends before she introduced herself.
When she left the bar, according to her claims, S.K. followed her and insisted on driving her home. She said at first she rejected his offer but then she yielded to his persistence and jumped into the passenger seat of his vehicle.
Counter claims
According to police investigations, the British woman claimed that he drove to a desert area where she claimed he forcibly undressed and raped her. She claimed she bled.
L.E. further claimed to police investigators that the suspect drove her home and when he learnt that she lived alone he went inside undressed and raped her on her bed for the second time.
Records said when he finished, he washed and put his contact number on her mobile phone then walked out after he asked her to call him later.
Police identified S.K. from his mobile number. During questioning, the suspect denied raping the woman and alleged that he had consensual sex with her. He alleged she seduced him and asked him to have sex with her in his vehicle while driving her home.
Then she reportedly took permission from her building's security guard and invited him over to her flat where he slept with her a second time.
The soldier admitted that he consumed four cans of beer and one vodka shot. A hearing will be held soon.
