Ras Al Khaimah: A gang of four expatriate men, comprising three Arabs and an African, was arrested by the police here for allegedly committing a series of burglaries on more than 60 outlets, the police said yesterday.

Major Hamad Ali, Head of Investigation and Criminal Department at Ras Al Khaimah Police told Gulf News that the police went into action after receiving a number of complaints by owners of shops.

The police set up a trap to arrest the gang after receiving a tip-off from a person who was suspected to be a gang member, Major Ali said.

The CID and police team first arrested the 20-year-old African suspect who confessed to his crime and told the police about his three Arab partners aged 19, 21 and 22, Major Ali said

Taking a lead from the information, the Ras Al Khaimah Police arrested the other suspects, he said

The suspects confessed to stealing items including cash, mobile phones and electronic games, Major Ali said.

The suspects were referred to Public Prosecution for further investigation and referred to the court.

Major Ali has urged shop owners to install alarm systems.
