Sharjah: Seven Iraqi women have been jailed in Sharjah for adultery. Those jailed were a woman, her two daughters and four others.

The Iraqi mother, Amal, 56, was sentenced to three years in jail by Sharjah Sharia Court of First Instance to be followed by deportation for aiding and abetting her two daughters, her niece and three other women to have sex with men in return for money.

The court also sentenced the Iraqi father of the children, Khalid, 40, who is still at large, to one month in absentia for possessing alcohol.

The court sentenced five of the women to one year each in jail for adultery to be followed by deportation, while the sixth woman was jailed for a month and fined Dh1,000 for beating up another woman.

According to court records, Amal facilitated the adultery of her daughters Zainab, 19, and Wuod, 24 and her niece Alya'a, 19. She used to aid Teeba, 24, and Eman, 21 to have sex with different men in return for Dh1,500 per night.

While Sameera, 35, used to aid Amal in her sex business. The Iraqi sex ring lived in a villa in Al Azra in Sharjah.

The case was reported to police by Maryam, also an Iraqi. Maryam told police that Amal brought her from Iraq to the UAE through Syria after she promised to marry her to an Emirati man and find her work in a beauty salon. Amal claimed that Maryam, who entered the country with a different name, was her niece.

Maryam told police that she stayed with Amal in her villa and three days after her arrival she was married (not recognised by the court) to Omar with whom she stayed for a month in a hotel before he returned her to Amal. Omar used to visit her to have sex with her occasionally.

Maryam told police that Amal tried to force her to work with other women as prostitutes who used to dance and have sex with customers in different chalets in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Umm Al Quwain and Al Ain.

Maryam refused but Amal beat her up and she cut her hair. Maryam said when customers informed Amal that she (Maryam) was refusing to have sex with them, Amal, Khalid and Sameera beat her up. They also forced her to have sex with a man identified as Maher and another man identified as Abu Ahmad.

Maryam said Amal once took her to Umm Al Quwain to have sex with an Iraqi man but she refused and Amal brought her back to Sharjah and beat her with a stick and tried to force her to have sex with an Emirati man but she refused. Maryam ran away at midnight from the villa and went to Al Hira police station.

Amal and the other women were all arrested in their villa. Items found in their possession included five bottles of alcohol and Dh80,000.
