Dubai: Two salesmen denied in court Monday the charge of having consensual sex in the backseat of a car a number of times before they were stopped by the police.

Prosecutors accused the salesmen, a 24-year-old Pakistani and a 28-year-old Filipino, of having consensual sex.

When the defendants appeared before the Dubai Misdemeanors Court Monday, they pleaded not guilty and strongly dismissed what they described as "groundless accusation".

According to the charge sheet, prosecutors said the 28-year-old C.K. allowed the 24-year-old W.A. to have consensual sex with him.

Presiding Judge Abdul Majid Al Nizamy will hand out a verdict on August 25.

Court records showed that a police patrol spotted W.A. waiting in his vehicle. When a policeman questioned him, he claimed that he was waiting for his Filipino friend, C.K.

Exchanged numbers

Police records said W.A. initially met C.K. in Al Mutainah area and they chatted for a while before they became friends and exchanged contact numbers.

"I met him one year ago. We became friends and things never went beyond friendship since I knew him… we were only friends and did not have sex or flirt with each other. We used to hang out together, attend parties and dinners and I was not aware that he was a homosexual. We became very close friends, and actually he became my best friend since he started teaching me the English language.

"One April eve, we agreed to go out for dinner. I drove to his house and was waiting under his building to pick him up when a police patrol stopped me," the Pakistani claimed during police questioning.

W.A. claimed that while he presented his personal identification card to the policeman, C.K. arrived.

Police took the two men, according to court records, to the police station for questioning.

The Pakistani alleged that he was ordered by the police to confess that he had consensual sex with the Filipino.

Scared

"I was scared… and that's why I claimed that I had sexual intercourse with C.K. several times in the backseat of my car in the parking of Mirdiff City Centre. Although the truth is that I never had sex with him, but I said so because the police scared me," W.A. claimed to police interrogators.

Meanwhile C.K. was cited as having admitted to taking money for having sex with W.A.
