Defendant, who pleaded not guilty, to be deported
Dubai: A salesman has been jailed for seven years for raping his nieces’ babysitter while they slept in their bedroom.
The 26-year-old Iranian salesman, F.M., was found guilty of forcing his way into his nieces’ bedroom and attacking the 29-year-old Filipina.
At Dubai Court of First Instance, Presiding Judge Maher Salama Al Mahdi said the accused will be deported following the completion of his jail term.
Records cited the Filipina as testifying that when she heard the bedroom door knocked, she was hesitant to open it and that the defendant was under the influence of alcohol when he raped her.
The babysitter identified F.M. as her attacker, the brother-in-law of her sponsor.
“I had been working for ten months for my sponsor at his residence in Al Warqa when the incident happened. My sponsor’s children, a one-year-old and a four-year-old, were sleeping when I went to bed. I locked the door, the defendant’s sister was asleep in her room. An hour later the door knocked. When the knocking continued, I hesitantly answered. I opened the door because I thought it was the mother. Surprisingly, F.M. stood at the doorstep and seemed drunk. He pushed me and I fell on my bed… he removed my clothes and raped me... I stayed in the bedroom until the next morning without informing anyone what happened,” claimed the woman.
Records said the woman absconded from her sponsor’s house around noon and fled to the Philippines Consulate. The consulate’s staff rushed her to hospital then reported the rape to police.
The primary judgment remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
