Ras Al Khaimah: The appeal court has reduced a life sentence to one month in jail followed by deportation for a man who raped his friend's wife, a judiciary official said.
The defendant was sentenced to life in prison in February, an official said.
The appeal court reduced the life sentence after the panel of judges failed to reach consensus, an official said.
The incident happened earlier this year when the man's friend went to India for two days to bring back his children.
Home alone
The man visited his friend's house when his wife was alone at home and she opened the door as she did not suspect any malicious intention on his part.
The man raped his friend's wife and she informed her husband about the incident when he returned from India.
The police filed a case and arrested the culprit. When arrested he confessed to having committed the crime.
