RAK court acquits man accused of fraudulent deal
The Misdemeanour Court here acquitted an Emirati who was earlier sentenced to three years in jail on fraud charges.
Ras Al Khaimah: The Misdemeanour Court here acquitted an Emirati who was earlier sentenced to three years in jail on fraud charges.
A senior court official said a businesswoman had accused the Emirati with defrauding her when she bought a Dh2 million worth piece of land in the emirate.
The woman claimed that the Emirati handed over different land at the time of delivery and that the land she bought from him was completely different.
The woman lodged a complaint against the Emirati with the police and provided the investigators with the contract and other documents.
The Ras Al Khaimah Police investigated the case and referred it later to the Public Prosecution which pressed charges against the Emirati and referred him to court.
The court reviewed the case and sentenced the man, who insisted that the land he sold the woman was the land he delivered to her, to three years imprisonment.
The Emirati appealed against the court ruling, where the emirate's Misdemeanour Court commissioned a committee to review the records and maps of the emirate's Land's Department.
The committee reported that the accusations of the GCC woman were not genuine.
