Probe into death of girl in bus continues
Abu Dhabi Educational Zone (ADEZ) is continuing the investigation into the death of a Pakistani girl who was left locked inside a bus last month, a senior official told Gulf News on Tuesday.
Abu Dhabi: Abu Dhabi Educational Zone (ADEZ) is continuing the investigation into the death of a Pakistani girl who was left locked inside a bus last month, a senior official told Gulf News on Tuesday.
"The committee, constituted by ADEZ, has already spoken to the girl's father who recently came back from his home country," Mohammad Salem Al Daheri, ADEZ's director, said.
Aimen Zeeshan, a kindergarten student at the Model School Mussaffah, died after a bus driver reportedly forgot to drop her at the school in the morning and allegedly left her locked inside the bus for at least three hours on May 14.
The preliminary inquiry had suggested that the father had an arrangement with the private school bus driver to transport his child to the school, according to ADEZ.
Al Daheri said he was in touch with the committee which will conclude the investigation to find out who was responsible for the unfortunate incident.
"We are looking at how the school managed the situation," he said.
He reiterated that schools have to prove that they have informed the parents as soon as they find a child is missing from the class.
The child's father had told Gulf News that he had not got any information from the school about the absence of the child on that day.
The school had said they were not aware of such a legal responsibility to inform the parents if the children were absent.
Al Daheri said a system to track the movement of school buses would be introduced in public schools very soon.
