Abu Dhabi: The two officers who were shot in a drug bust operation in Bani Yas region on Monday were transported in a private jet to Germany on Wednesday night for advanced treatment.
One of the two suspected drug dealers opened fire as he was exchanging money with the undercover police officers, who were posing as drug buyers. Both suspects were arrested and are currently facing prosecution.
President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, has been following the case very closely and directed that the two officers be flown to Germany to receive the best possible medical care.
The first lieutenant and first sergeant were grateful to His Highness for his generosity and attention to their plight.
"Our injuries are a small price to pay for the goodness we have received from our country," the injured officers said.
