Police sergeant charged with possessing heroin in Dubai

Dubai: An anti-narcotics police team claimed they were inspecting cars with tinted windows before they could detain a police sergeant for reportedly trafficking heroin and forward him to justice.
Police arrested the 28-year-old Emirati police sergeant in a sting operation after he sold the drug to an informant for Dh250.
The Public Prosecution charged the suspect, M.F., with possessing 0.47 grams of heroin, a wallet which contained miniature traces of heroin and two mind-affecting substances; diazepam and venoparpetal, with the intent to sell them.
When the suspect appeared before the Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday, he denied what he described as malicious accusations. He told Presiding Judge Abdul Majid Al Nezamy, "I am innocent… I didn't do it."
An anti-narcotics police lieutenant testified before the Public Prosecution: "One of our under cover agents informed the police that the suspect was searching for someone to buy drugs from … we assigned the agent to pose as a buyer after we gave him the required money which was photographed to be used as future evidence against the suspect during the trial."
The buyer met the suspect in his car in front of one of the government schools in Al Quoz.
"The buyer collected the drugs and left meanwhile the suspect drove away… a police team stopped him after that and asked him to present the tinting permit. Then the police team identified themselves as anti-narcotics police and took him into custody. The money was found in his possession," claimed the lieutenant.
A first sergeant and a first policeman confirmed the lieutenant's statement. Records said the leather wallet had un-measurable heroin traces.
Prosecution witnesses will testify when in court which reconvenes soon.
