Abu Dhabi: A construction worker who was found dead last month was strangled, an Abu Dhabi Police official told Gulf News.

On July 24, the body of a Bangladeshi construction worker was found at one of the buildings of the Khalidiya Palace Rotana Hotel and Residences project, said a police official, who asked not to be named.

The body of 32-year-old T.H was found on the 12th floor of the building.

Autopsy

"According to the autopsy report, the man was strangled to death", he said.

The recently completed tower is located opposite Emirates Palace. The case was first recorded at Khalidiya Police Station and is now being handled by homicide detectives at Khalifa City Police Station.

"The investigation is still on so it will not be possible to disclose more details", the official added.

The man was employed with the contracting company which was involved in the construction of the hotel project.

According to sources, the construction of the buildings was completed about two months ago and tenants have already occupied apartments.

The victim was working at a nearby tower and had no reason to be at the building where he was found, said an official.

"The project comprises four towers — a hotel and three residential towers. The building where T.H. was found was a residential tower, which the company had handed over two months ago. But a few other workers were present in the building doing maintenance jobs", said an official.

The victim had worked for the company for the past three years.

The Bangladeshi Embassy is closely following the case.

The body of the victim is still in police custody, as the investigation is still ongoing.
