Abu Dhabi: Police busted a gang stealing luxury cars and smuggling them in from European countries before re-exporting them abroad.

The gang allegedly used two undercover businesses — a used car shop and a spare parts shop — as a foil to conceal their illegal activities.

Colonel Yousuf Mousa Al Naqbi, Head, Sharjah Police Criminal Investigation Department, said that the police had been monitoring the gang's activities and was able to identify five Asians and one European involved in these crimes.

The police arrested the gang and confiscated 32 cars. Some of these vehicles were listed by the Interpol as stolen from European countries.

Interrogation with M.R., the main suspect in this crime, revealed that in the recent past, he was able of to get four containers to the UAE with three cars in each. He bought the cars from R.M. in a European country.
