Ras Al Khaimah: Police have arrested two young men on charges of damaging a speed radar on a Ras Al Khaimah road.

The Emirati suspect identified as M.A., 22, and S.M., 22 are residents of a neighbouring emirate but damaged a speed radar in Ras Al Khaimah.

Colonel Yaqoub Haddad, head of the Digdaga police station, said the arrested duo was allegedly involved in damaging a speed radar on a Ras Al Khaimah road.

Colonel Haddad said the suspects, who had covered their vehicle number plate with a sticker, removed the speed radar and tried to take it away but threw it on the road later after finding it too heavy.

A police officer, who was on duty at the time, saw them attempting to destroy the radar. He chased them but they managed to flee. As they were trying to remove the sticker from their vehicle’s number plate, an Asian man found their activity suspicious and reported them to the police.

A police team tracked down the suspects and arrested them.

During interrogation, the suspects confessed to their crime. The case has been referred to the public prosecution for further action.
