Sharjah: Police have arrested six Arab nationals for breaking into vehicles and stealing valuables.

The gang was allegedly led by a notorious suspect who has a criminal record and is wanted by police across the country.

A senior official at Sharjah Police told Gulf News that they were able to apprehend the suspect by coordinating with police in other emirates.

"During the investigation, police were able to identify one gang member who was based in Ajman.

"When their homes were raided, police discovered that they had stolen passports, mobile phones and official documents," the official said.

Under interrogation, the suspect confessed that he committed the crimes with two other men who lived in Dubai.

When police raided their homes, they discovered over 15 stolen mobile phones, cameras and laptops. The two suspects admitted breaking into 25 vehicles with the help of three other men.

The three remaining suspects were eventually arrested, and they confessed that they targeted parking lots in the areas of Buhairah Corniche and Al Mamzar Corniche in Sharjah, as well as the corniche in Abu Dhabi.

The case has been sent to the Sharjah Public Prosecution.
