Sharjah: Police investigations have revealed that the two children who were abandoned by their mother on the beach in Ajman some three months ago are from an illicit relationship.

The police said beach-goers noticed that two boys aged five and three were left unattended on the beach one cold evening. The complainant who reported the incident to the police said they saw a middle-aged woman leaving them behind.

Ajman Police transferred the boys to the Child Human Rights Department in Sharjah and the search for the mother was launched.

The police arrested the mother who kept a seven-month-old girl with her, but she did not acknowledge her two boys. The boys, however, identified their mother but could not show any emotion towards her.

The social workers asked the woman to keep her baby and referred her for medical and psychological assessment.

The mother later admitted that she had abandoned the children because she could not afford to look after them. She said that the father of the children, a GCC national, is currently in prison.

“The woman was found along with a seven-month-old baby. Investigations are ongoing to reveal the baby’s origin,” said the source.

The official added that the woman has no identification papers, and that she has been referred to the Public Prosecution on charges of having an illicit affair and endangering the lives of her children.

A source from Sharjah’s Social Services Department said that the three children were found by Ajman Police. After learning that the children lived in Sharjah, they were transferred to Sharjah Police, who moved them to the department.

The children received the necessary care and were taken on trips to parks and other fun locations by the community police, who attempted to acquire more information from the children on any memories they might have of their parents or places they used to frequent.

It turned out that the children’s home was located near the community police station. Investigations revealed the identity of the mother and father.
