Sharjah: Police have arrested two Pakistani men who rented luxurious vehicles and who wanted to sell them for prices lower than their original values.

An official at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at Sharjah Police told Gulf News that the two suspects rented saloon and 4-wheel drive vehicles from a number of rental companies in the country, and wanted to sell the vehicles to residents.

"[One of] the suspects rented out the vehicles by using 46 passports that belonged to other Asian men, and we discovered that he was searching for potential buyers in Sharjah," the official said.

The official noted that after the true identities of the suspects were revealed, the CID formed a team to carry out surveillance on one of the suspects who was in the process of selling the car to a buyer.

"We managed to arrest one suspect red-handed before he sold the stolen vehicle," the official said.

Sharjah Police then raided the house of one of the suspects and discovered 46 passports as well as official documents which included visit visas.

During the interrogation, the suspect confessed that the two cars he was planning to sell belonged to a rental car company that was based in Abu Dhabi, and he came to Sharjah with the intentional of selling the stolen goods.
