Dubai: A Filipina nanny is facing trial for reportedly sneaking into her employer's bedroom and stealing Dh21,000 from her handbag.

The 27-year-old Indian female employer accused the 21-year-old nanny of allegedly robbing her money after she suspected her behaviour and found in her closet money transfer receipts to the Philippines.

The Public Prosecution charged the suspect, R.S., with stealing money from her employer, T.A.

The alleged victim said in her statement that she had known the suspect for sometime because she baby-sits her children. “She walked into the bedroom and stole Dh21000… she also took Dh50,000 from my purse.

"After I suspected her, I went to her bedroom and checked her closet in which I found money transfer bills from Dubai to her country. She had also kept in her closet some Dh7,000 cash although her monthly salary is Dh730,'' T.A. testified before the public prosecution.

The employer informed the police which arrested the suspect.

The Filipina admitted to her charges during the public prosecution questioning.

Yesterday the police failed to bring the suspect from her detention to the Dubai Court of First Instance where she is being prosecuted for theft.

Presiding Judge Saeed Salem Bin Sarm adjourned the case until next week.
