Dubai: A woman accused of murder was arrested upon her arrival to Dubai Airport on Thursday after top police officials convinced her to come back to face trial.

The Pakistani woman fled the country after killing her business partner, a Pakistani, in September, Brigadier Khalil Ebrahim Al Mansouri, Director of Dubai Police’s Criminal Investigation Department, said.

She rented a house in Rashidiya and lured the victim, who had earlier filed a case against her, and stabbed him to death before going to the airport and leaving to Pakistan.

Through contacts in Pakistan, Dubai Police located the woman and communicated with her, Brig Al Mansouri said.

She told the high-ranking police officer who spoke to her that her business partner was blackmailing her.

She issued him a blank cheque earlier, which he presented to the police to apply pressure on her because she was refusing to have an affair with him.

After telling the police her story, the woman was convinced to come back to Dubai and undergo trial, as the court takes into consideration that she was a married woman who was defending her honour, Lieutenant Colonel Ahmad Al Merri, Director of CID’s Criminal Investigation Section, said.

“She could have decided not to return, but she chose to come back on her own because she believed she would undergo fair trail and repent for her crime,” Lt Col Al Merri said, adding that no false promises were made to the woman.

“She was told about the minimum and maximum sentences issued for similar crimes and reassured that the court would take her circumstances into consideration,” he said.

A request was made earlier for the extradition of this woman, and the extradition file is still with the Pakistani authorities.
