Motorist ordered to pay Dh200,000 to victim's family
The Traffic Court here sentenced an Emirati to two months in prison and ordered him to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the victim's family.
Ras Al Khaimah: The Traffic Court here sentenced an Emirati to two months in prison and ordered him to pay Dh200,000 in blood money to the victim's family.
A senior court official said the sentence will be suspended for three years.
The 35-year-old Emirati identified as S.A. was also ordered to pay a fine of Dh2,200 in addition to blood money to the family of the Bangladeshi victim identified as M.A.
The court official said the Emirati hit the victim's car from behind. The victim lost control of his vehicle and it overturned several times. The victim sustained serious injuries and was taken to Saqr Hospital for treatment. M.A., the sole breadwinner in his family, died a few days later.
Complaint
The Emirati sponsor of the victim lodged an official complaint with the authorities claiming the death of the Bangladeshi employee was due to the accident.

The sponsor demanded an immediate investigation. The emirate's Public Prosecution summoned a forensic expert to carry out an autopsy. The forensic expert reported that the death of M.A. was due to injuries sustained in the accident.
