Motorist jailed for causing accidental death of pedestrian in Fujairah
The Appeal Court in Fujairah has upheld a two-month jail term for an Indian national, who must also pay Dh200,000 in diya or blood money (compensation), for the accidental death of a pedestrian.
Fujairah: The Appeal Court in Fujairah has upheld a two-month jail term for an Indian national, who must also pay Dh200,000 in diya or blood money (compensation), for the accidental death of a pedestrian.
The motorist was previously convicted by the Criminal Court for causing injuries to a second pedestrian, damaging a car belonging to an Emirati and not adhering to road and traffic instructions.
The accident happened in Souda, Fujairah, at eleven in the evening.
The motorist told police that he was traveling at only 50 kilometers an hour when he was surprised by the appearance of two pedestrians in front of him and could not stop in time or avoid them.
