Sharjah: Police have arrested 92 infiltrators and illegal residents who lived in abandoned buildings in Al Merraija and Al Shuwaiheen.

Colonel Yousuf Mousa Al Naqbi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), told Gulf News that the police are conducting a campaign to concentrate all their efforts in arresting infiltrators in the emirate.

"There are a large number of infiltrators in Sharjah and they are a threat to the security of residents because they are the main cause of crimes, such as thefts," he said.

A CID team was formed to raid a deserted building in Al Merraija where a large number of infiltrators were believed to be living.

Col Al Naqbi said police will continue to crack down on people who are suspected of being infiltrators and illegal residents. He urged the public to notify police if they suspect a person is employed illegally.
