Dubai: A man was shot dead in Dubai on Saturday, in an operation believed to be an assassination, a top police official said.

Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim, Chief of Dubai Police, said: "The murder of the Chechen seems to be an assassination because he was shot dead in the parking of the building where he was living."

"It seems the 36-year-old victim, called Sulaiman Madov, had been under surveillance for some time," Lt. Gen Dahi said.

The Dubai Police Chief immediately rushed to the scene and was accompanied by Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazienah, Deputy Chief of Dubai Police, and Director of the Security State Department.
