Dubai: A man who claimed he stabbed a worker twice in his chest and killed him after the latter asked to have sex with him, has been jailed for seven years.

The 22-year-old Pakistani defendant, N.K., denied the accusation of premeditatedly killing his compatriot and claimed that he didn’t intend to kill him, citing self-defence.

The Dubai Court of First Instance jailed N.K. for seven years for killing S.G., who succumbed to his critical injuries four days after he was stabbed.

Prosecutors said N.K. premeditatedly stabbed S.G. in his chest after they indulged in a heated argument.

An Emirati policeman testified that N.K. claimed that he stabbed S.G. after he offered him money to have sex with him.

However the victim’s brother refuted the claims that S.G. was homosexual and claimed that he was an upright and religious man.

Records said N.K. took advantage of the fact that S.G. was sick and could not move so he grabbed a knife and stabbed him.

The court also jailed a 23-year-old Pakistani worker, K.K., for three months because he secured a hideout for N.K. and helped him abscond from the police.

N.K. will be deported following the completion of his jail term.

A Pakistani driver, M.D., said S.G. phoned him around 10:30pm and asked him for help because he had been stabbed in his chest.

“The deceased claimed to me that N.K. stabbed him, then locked the door from outside … I arrived within five minutes. I opened the door with the key that was left in the lock outside. The victim was lying on his back and holding his chest. He was bleeding profusely. I called the police and an ambulance that rushed S.G. to hospital,” said M.D.

The victim’s brother, N.G., said M.D. informed him that his brother had been stabbed.

“When I visited my brother in hospital, he said N.K. stabbed him because they had fought over work related issues. The deceased told me that on the night of the incident he suffered a stomachache… When N.K. asked S.G. to point out where it ached, the defendant pulled out a knife and stabbed him. My brother would never have asked N.K. to have sex with him. He was religious,” claimed N.G.

Police arrested K.K. when he went to N.K.’s residence to collect some clothes. K.K. guided the police to his residence in Al Ruwais near Abu Dhabi where N.K. was hiding.

Tuesday’s judgement remains subject to appeal within 15 days.
