Man hammers father to death in Dubai over pocket money
A man who battered his elderly wheelchair-bound father to death pleaded guilty in front of a Dubai court on Monday.
Dubai: A man who battered his elderly wheelchair-bound father to death pleaded guilty in front of a court on Monday.
Gulf News in February had reported that the Dubai Public Prosecution was questioning a 29-year-old Pakistani, A.A, on allegations of killing his 62-year-old father, C.A.
The elderly man's body was found at his family home after A.A.'s mother reported the incident to police. A.A. appeared at Dubai Court of First Instance on Monday and pleaded guilty to killing his father.
Argument
He repeatedly hit his father on the head with a hammer following a heated argument between the two. The court was adjourned later this month to assign a defence lawyer for A.A.
According to Public Prosecution records, Dubai Police's Operations Room had received a report of an attack. A police patrol arrived at the scene and saw the victim's wife M.Y. who told police that A.A. had a quarrel with C.A. and attacked him with a hammer several times until he died. A.A. then fled and was found near his residence and was arrested.
In Public Prosecution's testimony, M.Y. testified that on the day of the incident, she wanted to go for a walk. When she was going, she saw A.A. and asked him to wear his sneakers and accompany her in the stroll.
She said she waited 15 minutes after which her son came back and told her that he killed his father.
She said he was laughing in a strange manner. She went to her husband's room and found him lying in a pool of blood. She panicked and informed police.
A.A. testified that he had an argument with his father on his monthly expense. He left the room angry, brought a hammer from the hall, went back to his father and attacked him on his head several times.
A.A. then left the apartment and told the mother that he killed his father.
